👋 I’m Alina - Co-founder and Co-CEO at Chili Piper.
I now live in New York but I was born in Romania in 1984. My family couldn’t afford to pay for all the things for my education, so I have had all sorts of odd jobs ever since I was 8. In high school, I was selling lipstick door to door to pay for my books.
Eventually, like most geeks you might know, I became obsessed with computers and paid my way through a computer science master.
Even though I worked for many different industries and climbed the career ladder quite fast (from intern to SVP in publicly traded companies in 6 years), I was a miserable employee.
I am the technical co-founder at Chili Piper, and this is my first company.
I dreamed companies could be built differently—see our ethos here. I also believed I could use my tech skills to build better software for revenue teams. I could see that whenever I built an app (and did so in finance, media, health tech, and education), it would get massive adoption (I got 30M+ users every time, and some of my apps got keynoted by Steve Jobs).
Though I was happy with my achievements, I felt I could do a lot more.
I wanted to help with complexity at scale. Because most of the technically savvy people I knew went to solve problems for consumer apps, I knew I could be a lot more helpful when complexity is at its finest.
And what better challenge to take upon myself than solving than how b2b companies operate? Most specifically, their revenue teams.
I had been in many, and I saw how much they struggled. With barely attainable quotas, with minimum support. I had seen how software barely scratches the surface on supporting them reaching their goals. And I also felt the pain directly in my journey as a sales person in various roles. Including that of an SDR.
Because I knew what’s like to sell, and my husband (who is my co-founder) is the most brilliant sales/marketer, I know it made sense that we would start this together. I might be biased, but 17 years of strong marriage (plus two babies) are confirming that I have chosen wisely.
