Why Proposify Switched from LeanData to Chili Piper

Our Impact

Adam Pelley is the Marketing and Sales Operations Manager at Proposify — a company that helps revenue teams create, manage, and close sales documents, most typically proposals. 

Adam runs the entire marketing and sales operations tech stack. He’s responsible for making sure their entire tech stack works together smoothly — and, more importantly, that the tech they’re using is actually improving sales and marketing results.

LeanData was a big part of their tech stack — but Adam found it extremely cumbersome, difficult to use, and not worth the investment. So he started to look for alternatives.

“I was kind of forced into using LeanData. Things were falling through the cracks, it was expensive, and not very easy to use,” Adam told us. “As soon as I saw Chili Piper, it was a pretty easy decision on our end. It was so easy to set up and it worked so well with our other tools.”

Everything is faster with Chili Piper

Adam had already been using Chili Piper to let prospects book meetings immediately after submitting a form. 

“We really want to make it as easy as possible for folks to book time with sales”, Adam explained. “With Chili Piper, as soon as someone who matches our ICP fills out a form, they can immediately book a time with someone.”

If inbound is a big channel for you, Adam recommends checking out Chili Piper. “If your business model is based on people booking demos with your company, Chili Piper is the best way I’ve seen for making that process work smoothly for both sides”, he continued.

But Adam was still using LeanData for CRM routing — and the experience was not nearly as smooth. 

He recalls a simple use case that he wanted to set up with LeanData: 

  • If there’s an owner, route to owner
  • If there’s no owner and below a certain size, route to a Business Development Rep (BDR)
  • If there’s no owner and above a certain size, route to an Account Executive

“Just setting up those basic rules took like a month of back-and-forth meetings just to make sure everything was covered. With Chili Piper, it was one meeting,” he said.

Chili Piper isn’t just for sales teams

At Proposify, almost the entire company is on Chili Piper. The support team, the marketing team, the sales team — even the product team. 

“The product team is using Chili Piper to reach out to select customers at different points in their customer lifecycle. They send an email with a booking link that round-robins between different people on the product team,” Adam explained.

Not only that, but the support he’s gotten from Chili Piper has been out of this world. “The support team has been incredible, especially big shout out to Robbie. Whenever I have a call with him, I know I’m going to have whatever problems I had fixed for sure.”
